Roland SBX-1 sync box, unused — the box was opened only to check the contents. It is a parallel import, so the printed manual is in English; the Japanese manual can be read online. The AC adapter is included.

The SBX-1 lets analog and digital instruments and a computer talk to each other. DIN SYNC, MIDI and USB/MIDI inputs can each be the master, or the SBX-1 itself can drive external gear from its internal clock. It converts incoming performance data into CV (pitch) and GATE (note) signals, so beyond syncing it can play analog and modular synths; the built-in LFO and trigger outputs serve for modulation and gate/trigger duty. It ties AIRA gear like the TR-8, TB-3 and SYSTEM-1 together with vintage analog and modular synths in one hardware live setup.
